Two-step verification, DLL repair and Steam wishlist alerts
Ascend accounts can now ask for a code from your email every time you sign in, so a leaked password alone can't get anyone in. Versions 11.8 and 11.9 also restore missing DLLs in installed games, alert you when a game on your Steam wishlist is available, and bring native Online-Fix support to Linux.
Your Ascend account holds your membership, your cloud library and your save backups. Starting with 11.9, you can protect it with two-step verification. Versions 11.8 and 11.9 also add DLL repair for installed games, Steam wishlist alerts, review likes, milestone badges and much better Online-Fix support on Linux.
Two-step verification for your account
With two-step verification on, Ascendara emails you a 6-digit code every time you sign in, and you need that code to finish signing in. Someone who has your password still can't get into your account without access to your email. Codes expire 10 minutes after they're sent, and you can ask for a new one from the sign in screen.
To turn it on, open Ascend, go to Settings and find Security. Ascendara sends a code to your account's email to confirm it's you. Ascend members who haven't turned it on yet will also see a reminder on the Ascend home page.
Two-step verification can't be turned off from inside the app. If you need to disable it, contact support in the Ascendara Discord server or email contact@ascendara.app.
- A 6-digit code by email every time you sign in
- Codes expire after 10 minutes, and you can ask for a new one
- Turn it on from Security in Ascend's settings
- Turning it off goes through support
- Verification and password reset emails now come from Ascendara directly, on a redesigned verification screen
Repair games with missing DLLs
When a game won't start because DLL files are missing, choose Restore missing DLLs on the game's page. Ascendara looks up the files that game should have and puts the missing ones back.
The repair files come from Ascend members who choose to share them. DLL sharing is off until you turn it on, and you'll find it under DLL Sharing in Ascend's settings. Only the DLLs listed for a game are ever uploaded, never saves or personal files. A file is approved only after several members report the same file, and approved files are stored publicly so anyone can use them to repair a game. We updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to cover this, and existing users are asked once whether they want to take part.
